A new guide to help home care providers get ahead of changing CQC regulation
As the CQC prepares to launch its new guidelines to deliver on its new strategy, we thought it was the perfect time to update our popular guide ‘Outstanding home care’ with new information about how things will soon change.
Like earlier iterations of the guide, we carefully explore what the CQC’s key questions mean for home care providers, and how care management technology can play a crucial role in evidencing the delivery of Outstanding care.
But, where previously we looked at the key lines of enquiry (KLOEs) that make up each key question, in this version of the guide – we dive into the new quality statements that will replace the KLOEs.
The quality statements are the commitments that providers, commissioners and system leaders should live up to. Expressed as ‘we statements’, they show what is needed to deliver high-quality, person-centred care.
And while the CQC has yet to specifically explain how technology can be deployed to meet the quality statements, in our new guide we explore how we, as care software providers, believe our technology can play a role.
David Lynes, Founder & CEO of Unique IQ said: “It’s all change in care tech since our last edition of ‘Outstanding home care’.
“The UK government is now pushing for 80% of social care providers to have digital records by March 2024.
“£25 million has been made available to Integrated Care Systems to support the adoption of technologies that can transform care, alongside a new purchasing framework for digital care records systems.
“We hope that this third edition of ‘Outstanding home care’ will let providers get a step ahead of the upcoming changes to CQC regulation, and help them put the processes in place to ensure they continue to deliver Outstanding care.”
In the guide you will find:
- An overview of the CQC’s new regulatory approach – which the CQC began piloting with domiciliary care organisations in August 2022
- Information on the CQC’s new quality statements – which are replacing the key lines of enquiry (KLOEs)
- Examples of how technology can evidence care quality against the new quality statements
- Extracts from real CQC reports for Outstanding home care providers that demonstrate technology’s impact
